The Challenge
The Company was a third generation family business with locations in the United States, Canada and India. The Company was facing growing competitive pressures from Asian companies.
True North’s Role
A principal of True North worked with the CEO to develop a strategy to help the company evolve to respond to these challenges. True North helped the company obtain new debt financing, sell off under-performing assets, and restructure other core assets into a nimble, profitable company for that continued to provide income, growth and employment for some of the family members. The remaining assets formed the basis for a new company headed by one of the family members that became a world leader in its unique market. True North’s principal helped the new company obtain venture financing, giving it the resources to grow, dominate its sector, and eventually be sold to an international holding company, providing a liquidity event for founders and investors and long-term employment agreements for management.
