Dean brings a unique perspective and broad range of experiences to True North and our clients’ businesses.
At a time when commercial uses of the Internet were just starting to be imagined, Dean led all aspects of web development for Barry Diller’s USA Networks (a $5 billion dollar corporation which owned TicketMaster, Universal Studios, Home Shopping Network, and the Internet Shopping Network, which was the second largest Internet bidding site after eBay). His responsibilities included: creating Internet and intranet vendor-related sites; process, functional and graphic design and implementation; development of merchandising and marketing strategies; and budgets and revenue projections for multiple sites with emphasis on large-scale, retail-formats to parallel HSN’s on-air experience. He oversaw development of systems for: real-time inventory control and product information integration for over 100,000 inventory items; multiple main frame integration; and call center interaction, with the ability to handle more than 5000 transactions per second. He also managed implementation of multi-lingual support networks, multi-national currency exchange; unified views of customer information across multiple corporations and platforms; and helped develop affiliate network programs to drive sales.
Dean also consulted on web commerce and site design, implementation, presentation and fulfillment for the PGA Tour, ATP Tour, Barnett Bank of Florida, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, and Winn Dixie.
Dean was a Vice President of Progressive Printing, which published Dive Data and Ocean Realm, two internationally distributed, premium magazines for scuba divers. At Progressive, he managed international advertising sales, distribution, production, promotion, subscription fulfillment, and editorial.
